Frequently Asked Questions
Clear answers about what Connect PT is, how it works, and what you can and cannot expect.
Connect PT (formerly Physician-Endorsed Patient Therapies) is an Australian telehealth service providing clinician-led health optimisation programs for adults aged 35 and over. We offer structured health assessments, comprehensive pathology, and personalised care plans designed by AHPRA-registered practitioners. Our service is proactive, focused on optimising health rather than just managing disease.
No. Connect PT is not a prescription service and should never be understood as one. We are a clinician-led health optimisation program. Our practitioners conduct thorough individual assessments and make clinical decisions on that basis. Any prescription, if issued, is at the sole discretion of the treating practitioner, only where clinically appropriate, and is never guaranteed. A consultation does not entitle you to any specific prescription or medication.
No. Treatment decisions, including whether any prescription is appropriate, rest entirely with your AHPRA-registered practitioner and are made based on your individual assessment, pathology, and clinical picture. There is no guarantee of any specific recommendation or prescription. Some patients will not receive a prescription. If that is the case, your clinician will discuss alternatives and the clinical reasoning.
No GP referral is required to start your assessment. We work alongside your existing primary care team rather than instead of them. After your consultation, your Connect PT clinician can provide a summary for your GP with your consent.
Possibly. Your clinician may accept recent pathology results (generally within 3 months) at their discretion, depending on the panels included and whether they meet the clinical requirements for your assessment. This is determined case-by-case during your initial consultation. In some cases, additional or repeat testing may be required.
No. Connect PT is a private health service and is not covered by Medicare or private health insurance. Consultation fees, pathology costs, and any medications are the patient's responsibility. We provide clear pricing upfront so there are no surprises. Some pathology items may have partial Medicare coverage depending on the referring practitioner and clinical indication.
Yes. Consultations are held by secure video, so our service is accessible to Australians across all states and territories, including regional and rural areas. Pathology collection is available at collection centres nationally. Some remote areas may have limited pathology access, so speak to our team if you have concerns.
Yes. As well as video consultations, Connect PT doctors see patients in person at our Newcastle clinic in Georgetown. Some of our doctors consult by video only, so let us know if you would prefer to be seen in person.
Newcastle clinic detailsOur Newcastle clinic is at 16–18 Christo Road, Georgetown NSW 2298, about five minutes from the Newcastle CBD. There is easy on-site parking.
Hours, map and phone numberYes. You can mix the two, for example an in-person first visit and video follow-ups. Your doctor will let you know if a particular appointment needs to be in person.
No. You can complete your care entirely by video from anywhere in Australia. If your doctor feels an in-person examination would help, they will talk with you about the options, including our Newcastle clinic or a practitioner closer to you.
Your personal and health information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles. We use secure, Australian-hosted platforms for health records and telehealth. Health data is never sold, shared with third parties for marketing purposes, or used for any purpose beyond your clinical care. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
All Connect PT practitioners are AHPRA-registered Australian clinicians with experience in integrative and preventive medicine. You can independently verify any practitioner's registration status at ahpra.gov.au. Our practitioners are remunerated for clinical time, not for the recommendations they make. We have no financial relationships with pharmaceutical manufacturers.
We consider this a mark of clinical integrity, not a failure of service. If your clinician determines that a specific treatment or intervention is not appropriate for your clinical situation, they will explain their reasoning fully and discuss alternative approaches. You will not be charged a different rate based on whether treatment is recommended. Your consultation fee covers clinical assessment and care, regardless of outcome.
No. You pay a clear fee for each consultation, with no subscriptions, membership or platform fees. Repeat consultations are opt-in, so you decide if and when to come back. Please see our Pricing page and Terms and Conditions for details.
